6M7F: Define your case for support
Launching January 9, Philanthropic Fundraising will pilot a program called “Six Months to 7 Figures” focused on helping clients secure a transformational gift (the largest gift a nonprofit has ever received) and/or securing such a gift in a shorter amount of time.
The question I get most often is, how is this even possible? I can only point backward and say that every organization I have worked with for more than four months has secured the largest gift it's ever received. It wasn't always 7 figures. Sometimes it was a high 6-figure gift. But either way, it was transformational.
I want this for more clients and thought, how do we make this happen? The specific path to a transformational gift is not the same for every organization, but there are three major phases I’ve used to consistently guide clients to success. When we set goals for a campaign the first mountain to climb is establishing a case for support—and it can be more challenging than we think. Have you ever embarked on a campaign with board members and staff who feel passionate about your messaging and call to action, but when it comes to sharing with potential donors, it falls short?
That’s where the “Six Months to 7 Figures” comes in—missing the mark on that crucial first step can delay or derail your campaign before you even have the chance to begin.
